You all together made this possible.

Welcome | Willkommen | Bienvenue

The last preparations are making progress, so that the seminars and examinations can get started from 15 July on!
Each participant will get an envelop at the check-in with his starting number, name tag and some information; also a small book with the schedules, procedures and points of attention for the event.

A few advices for arrival:

  • By taxi: fare from the airport oder DB railway station approx. EUR 20,00.
  • By car: please stop first on the short term parking place, inform the reception in the sports school and buy a sesaon ticket. After this go to the multi-storey. 3 days are together EUR 12,00; each day longer EUR 4,00. The multi-storey can be left in between.

To the EKF Representatives:

It is very likely that a lot of the participants for the EKF Summer Seminars will travel to Frankfurt by airplane. We want to inform you that there have come into operation new fees for the transportation of sports luggage on the 2nd of February this year. Lufthansa and the Star Alliance have raised the fees almost 100%.
For European flights the airlines charge 150, - Euro one-way, that means 300,- Euro freight fee for the roundtrip, to carry a 1.5 kg bow. This is also valid for connecting flights with Lufthansa and other Star Alliance members. Unfortunately they don't distinguish between the weights of the sport
luggage, they put together all equipment over 2 m and up to 50 kg into
one category. For all people doing Kyûdô this is very bad news. Discussions with Lufthansa representatives haven't shown any better prospects.

We'd like to ask you, to inform your members how much extra fees they are likely to pay for their equipment. Everybody is entitled to choose the airline he likes, but one has to be careful, because the travel-agencies are not always well informed about the problem and this could lead to very unpleasant situations during check-in at the airport. For sure one can reduce costs in packing together the bows of several participants, but it is also the fact that there are still airlines that take less or no money, if the bow fits into the luggage allowance.

Regarding the World Championships 2010 in Japan some research for cheaper means is certainly of use. At the moment Star Alliance is charging 600, - Euro sports equipment fee for the round trip to Japan.

Kind Regards
